Journyx and IBM Team to Deliver Enterprise Project and Time Tracking Software
Journyx announces availability of Journyx Timesheet software with IBM's WebSphere, MQSeries, and DB2 Universal Database
AUSTIN, Texas, USA — April 5, 1999 — Journyx, the market leader in web-based project and time tracking solutions, and IBM (NYSE: IBM - news) today announced the general availability of Journyx Timesheet software incorporating IBM's WebSphere* and the DB2* Universal Database. Journyx Timesheet is a platform-independent solution that uses a Web browser to enable workers and their managers to track and report time & expenses on a project-by-project basis. In addition, Journyx Timesheet also integrates with IBM's MQSeries* for message queuing and information exchange.
The Journyx solution allows companies to efficiently track the productivity of employees as well as the profitability of certain clients. Journyx Timesheet is accessible enterprise-wide via the Internet or a company intranet. Because Journyx Timesheet uses a company's existing computers and Web browsers, no additional hardware or software investments are required.
"At times, technology struggles to keep pace with today's increasingly mobile work force as out-of-date or complex systems can present logistical nightmares for employees on-the-go as well as accounting departments," says Scott Armour, director, Worldwide ISV Software Sales & Marketing, IBM Software Group. "But integrating IBM's WebSphere, DB2 Universal Database, and MQSeries with Journyx Timesheet creates an efficient, easy-to-use system for mobile employees, allowing them to access project information and report time from wherever their work takes them."
Journyx Timesheet possesses many key user benefits and features including "Build Your Own Timesheet*", which allows users to customize the time entry screen for specific employees, groups, departments, or divisions by renaming, repopulating, or removing any field on a given time entry screen. The solution also allows users to track project status, time and attendance, activities, clients, billings, and other key data. Companies can track time logged against projects as well as percent complete figures based both on current estimated progress and on the initial estimate from project set-up.
With Journyx Timesheet, users can enter payroll billing rates specific to each employee, generate highly configurable internal reports, and easily export information into existing accounting, project management, and payroll software. Moreover, given the flexibility of the Journyx Timesheet product architecture, the software can be integrated with Enterprise Resource Planning software such as offerings from SAP AG (NYSE:SAP - news), PeopleSoft (NASDAQ:PSFT - news), or J.D. Edwards (NASDAQ:JDEC - news).
"It's increasingly tough, especially given the trends toward outsourcing, globalization and remote workers, for businesses to keep on top of projects and expenses" said Bill Leake, vice president of marketing, Journyx. "Journyx Timesheet coupled with IBM software will offer more robust options for our customers, providing a web-based system that scales to tens of thousands of users, yet remains extremely easy to use and dramatically lowers administrative costs over current methods."
