How can I report on hidden users and items?
Only administrators can report on hidden users and items (projects, tasks, etc.) in Timesheet.
If you still need to report on a "hidden" item then that item should be left in the groups in which it resides and should have its Status set to Reportable Only. Items that are set to Reportable Onlycan no longer have records logged against them, but any historical records already logged will be displayed in reports.
If you have users you need to hide but whose records should still be available for reporting purposes, simply change those users passwords so that they cannot log in to create new records. Be sure to leave those users in the groups in which they reside and their existing records will remain available for reporting.
How can I archive my old data?
Starting with Timesheet 5.5.2 you can use the backupdb command to create archive backup files - files that contain only the records that lie inside a range of dates you specify when you run backupdb with the -A option. When you run backupdb in archive mode, a Timesheet backup file is created that contains only the data that falls within your specified date range. When running an archive, you will also have the option to purge archived data from your Timesheet installation. Purging archived data can have a positive impact on your system's performance, but please exercise caution when purging any data from Timesheet.
