Novar R&D Realizes Cost Savings and Project ROI with Journyx
What Journyx did for us:
The SaaS option of Timesheet has saved us more than $10,000 in capital expenditures. I can confidently say that Journyx Timesheet is far more adaptable and cost effective than any other application I’ve used.
Novar is one of the largest global energy management firms with capabilities ranging from installing intelligent building control systems—Novar’s operations team executes thousands of installations a year on time and on budget—to full Solution Center support for monitoring and using those systems effectively. Novar is part of Honeywell International, a $34 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide with energy management solutions, aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; turbochargers; and specialty materials. Longtime Journyx customer Novar Research and Development recognized in 2002 the need and value of having a time-tracking solution that also offers the additional information of project costs. When Novar searched for a solution that would fit the bill, they found Journyx Timesheet to be easy to use and intuitive with a low cost of ownership. The fact that Timesheet is offered as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution made it all the more attractive.
Trevor Porter, Engineering Manager at Novar, says, “As we grew and became more service-oriented, we needed to monitor time very closely. Journyx Timesheet helps us in two key areas: 1) capturing our total labor expenditure and 2) capturing the total accrued man-hours for each project. This data, along with capturing other project costs enables us to determine the project’s ROI based on hard data. In addition, we can better forecast time estimates for future projects based on historical project data.”
Novar tracks time allocations for new product development with Journyx Timesheet. Additionally, Novar uses Timesheet for engineering project cost accounting. This allows them to track project costs and use the information for planning and estimating, which assists with budgeting and employee role assignment on similar projects in the future.
“The SaaS option of Timesheet has saved us more than $10,000 in capital expenditures. Further, with the low per-user, per-month pricing, we are able to write-off the SaaS as an expense without applying any additional burden to our IT infrastructure and resources,” says Porter. “After looking at other time and attendance applications, I can confidently say that Journyx Timesheet is far more adaptable and cost effective than any other application I’ve used.”
